Update: Appointment slots are currently full. You may still be added to the waitlist.

Saturday, October 7, 2017, the Erie County Bar Association, in partnership with the Erie County Department of Public Safety, and with the support of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, will be hosting their annual Wills for Heroes program at the Erie County Public Safety Building (2880 Flower Road, Erie, PA). Free Wills, Living Wills, Healthcare and Financial Powers of Attorney can be prepared for first responders, military veterans, and their spouses.

Appointments begin at noon and the final appointments are scheduled at 3:00 pm. Appointments are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The first appointment of the  Registration for this event is now open online, and appointments are expected to fill quickly. Appointments for each person last approximately 1 hour. At the conclusion, you will have notarized legal documents. If you register to attend with a spouse/partner, you and your spouse/partner will be scheduled for back-to-back appointments. When registering online, your spouse/partner will automatically be scheduled for the second appointment. You do not need to schedule a separate appointment for your spouse/partner.

If your estate exceeds approximately $750,000, this service is unavailable to you due to the complexity of your estate and the limited time to complete the legal documents. Individuals without an appointment cannot be accommodated the day of the event.

Register online at www.pabar.org/wfh. The password is WFH.

What to bring on the day of the event:

  • At the time of your online registration, you will need to print a questionnaire that must be completed and brought with you to the event.
  • Proof of residency in Pennsylvania will be required at the event.
  • Confirmation of your status as a first responder or military veteran will also be required at the event.

If unable to reserve an appointment via the website, email Melissa Shirey at mhshirey@eriefamilylaw.com to be added to a waiting list. You may also email her with any questions or concerns or call Sandra Brydon Smith, ECBA Executive Director, at (814) 459-3111. More information can be found at www.willsforheroes.org.
