On July 15th from 3-6 pm, join Angelo's Salon Developmemt Group, CET-Vet, and Eufora for the first annual Beards & Brews Event with beer, food, music, games, and prizes. Active/reserve duty and retired vets of the military can receive complimentary haircuts, styling & beard trims, courtesy of the Eufora HERO for Men Styling Team. On July 15th, Erie SeaWolves will be saluting our military and veterans with fireworks after the game set to the themes of the armed forces. The SeaWolves will wear special military-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off, benefiting veterans' charities. Presented by Presque Isle Downs & Casino. The Erie SeaWolves will play against the Akron RubberDucks.

North Coast Flight School and Liberty Foundation are excited to announce the arrival of the Madras Maiden, a WWII Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress," will be available for viewing July 29-30 as part of North Coast Flight School's Weekend in History event. The event will be held at the Flight School (1605 Asbury Rd) from 10am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday. 

Erie VAMC is pleased to invite Veterans and their families to attend the annual Welcome Home Veterans Appreciation Event at the Erie Zoo coming up Friday, August 18 from 6pm-9pm. This is a one-stop-shop for Veterans and their families to connect with a variety of VA representatives and other Veteran-related service organizations right on-site - not to mention, a fun night for the whole family. Tickets are required and will be available Wednesday, July 12 through Monday, August 14th.

The Tri-State Pain Institute will be hosting a talk at the Ambassador Banquet & Conference Center (7792 Peach St, Erie, PA) on August 1 from 5-8pm. The featured speaker will be Justin Minyard, US Army Master Sergeant (Retired), a Chronic Pain Patient. Exhibitor tables, a meet & greet with special guests military veterans, and a pain discussion with pain experts. Friends and family are welcome. Refreshments will be provided. On August 1 from 11am-3pm, Veterans are invited to tour the Telehealth Education Delivered (TED) vehicle that will showcase new ways of providing convenient, easy access to care. The TED vehicle will be parked at the Erie VAMC outside the 2nd floor entrance.

On August 25 from 11am-2pm, Erie Veterans will have the opportunity to learn about and volunteer to join the Million Veteran Program (MVP). Researchers will be at the Erie VAMC in the Mobile Vet Center located outside the 2nd floor entrance. MVP is the world's largest database of health and genomic information, with more than 560,000 U.S. Veterans included nationally. It links genetic, clinic, lifestyle, and military-exposure information to help researchers learn about the role of genes in health and disease with the goal of improving health care for Veterans. Veterans can call 1-866-441-6075 or visit www.research.va.gov/mvp to learn more about MVP.

On May 23, 2017, United Way launched PA 2-1-1 Northwest information and referral service in Erie, Venango, and Warren Counties. This toll-free, three-digit number is a resource individuals can use to learn about the community’s network of health, human and social services. Trained, professional resource navigators will respond to callers’ inquiries Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Individuals can access the PA 2-1-1 Northwest website, PA211NW.org and conduct their own search or text their need and zip code to 898-211.

My HealtheVet is a web-based personal health record that gives Veterans information and tools to improve their health. Registration as a VA patient is required to have full access to all features, but all veterans are able to register. The My HealtheVet team would like to remind veterans that they can sign up for a biweekly newsletter to help you take care of your health and communicate with your VA health care team.

On May 23 from 5:30-7pm, Erie VA Medical Center will be hosting a Town Hall dedicated to Women Veterans in the 2^nd Floor Conference Rooms. This event is open to all women who served in the military and their families. The Erie VAMC leadership team, the Women Veterans Program Manager, and a number of VA health experts and VA resources will be on-site to provide information about services, answer questions, and most importantly to listen to your unique needs about what you’d like to see in the future of Women Veterans care.
