All are welcome to join in the 7th annual VA2K Walk & Roll event on May 17 at the Erie VA Medical Center. The event kicks of at the 2nd Floor Pavilion at 11:20 am. After kick-off, participants will walk to the top level of the parking garage for a 10 minute exercise class. Classes will be held at 11:40 am, 12:10 pm, and 12:40 pm. The event is free. On June 24th, 2017 from 8:30am-8pm, The Mound Grove Golf Course and Boots on Ground are hosting their 1st annual fundraising event in support of Tee it up for the Troops, Inc. and its mission to serve combat veterans and their families. Proceeds from this event will benefit Boots on Ground - Be the Voice. The event will feature a golf tournament, prime rib dinner, and a golf ball drop from a helicopter. Tickets are $80 per person. On May 1, The Produce Express Military Share program will be at the Erie VAMC starting at 5 pm. Produce Express Military Share is a mobile food pantry which makes fresh, healthy produce and grocery items available FREE to Veterans, service members and military families who qualify. Your Veteran Community Outreach & Action Team will be hosting the first of three public forums at the Blasco Library in Erie from 5:30 to 7:30 on April 20th. All veterans are welcome to come discuss their concerns. The forum is dedicated to connecting veterans, service members, and their families to local resources, and the forum will be followed by a networking and resource fair. On March 22, Chuck Vollmer, author and founder of Jobenomics, will be returning to share the preliminary Jobenomics Erie program. Taking the lead will be two established and well-respected 501c3 Erie groups, Climate Changers, Inc. and the Veterans Miracle Center Erie. The Jobenomics Erie Town Hall and Press Release will be held at the Blasco Library Hirt Auditorium. Registration begins at 5pm, and the program begins at 5:30pm. On April 18th, Erie VA Medical Center will be hosting a Veterans Resource Fair / Town Hall from 5-6:30pm at the American Legion Post 571 Carl Neff in Erie. All Veterans and their families are invited to attend. Veterans who have never enrolled in VA healthcare are especially encouraged to attend; stop by with a DD214 copy and meet with an eligibility representative on-site.

The Erie VA Medical Center in collaboration with Erie Veterans Legal Clinic, the lawyers at Purchase and George, P.C., and other volunteer lawyers offer a free legal clinic to eligible veterans each month. The clinic is open, by appointment, from 4pm-6pm on the second Monday of every month. When scheduled to meet with the clinic, veterans are allotted thirty minutes of private consultation about their legal problems to ask questions and receive advice. On April 20th, the newly established MyVA Community Board - Your Veteran Community Outreach & Action Team (COAT) - will be hosting a Public Forum at the Blasco Library from 5:30-7:30pm. The board would like to hear the concerns of local veterans in order to improve services.
